Step-by-step recipe

  1. Cook the rice

Rinse the basmati rice under cold water in the colander until the water runs clear. In the saucepan, bring 250 ml of water to a boil, add the drained rice and a pinch of salt. Turn down the heat, cover and cook for 12 min over low heat.

Tip · Want more fragrant rice? Add a bay leaf to the cooking water.
  2. Prep the broccoli

Wash the broccoli, cut it into small florets and slice the stems into rounds. Peel and finely mince the 2 garlic cloves.

  3. Sauté the garlic and broccoli

In the nonstick skillet, heat a teaspoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds without burning it. Add the broccoli, Espelette pepper, a pinch of salt and some pepper. Sauté for 5 min, stirring.

  4. Cook the shrimp

Add the peeled shrimp to the skillet with the broccoli. Sauté them for 2 min over high heat until pink and hot all the way through.

Tip · To keep the shrimp from turning rubbery, don't cook them more than 2 min over high heat.
  5. Plate and serve

Drain the cooked rice and divide it between two plates. Top with the shrimp and broccoli. Drizzle with lemon juice and a little olive oil.
