Step-by-step recipe

  1. Prep the veggies

Cut the broccoli into small florets, the carrot into thin rounds and the half onion into slices. Crush or mince the 2 garlic cloves.

  2. Start the rice

Rinse the 150 g of basmati rice in the colander. Bring 300 ml of salted water to a boil in the saucepan, add the rice, cover and cook over low heat for 12 min.

  3. Let the rice rest

Turn off the heat and leave the rice covered, without lifting the lid. It finishes plumping up in the steam while you make the stir-fry.

  4. Cook the veggies

Heat the tablespoon of olive oil in the wok over high heat. Add the onion and carrot for 2 min, then the broccoli for 3 min, stirring: they should stay crunchy.

Tip · Don't overfill the wok and keep the heat high, otherwise the veggies steam and go soft.
  5. Cook the ground beef

Push the veggies to the side, add the 300 g of ground beef and cook it for 4 to 5 min, breaking it up, until there's no pink left at all. Add the garlic for the last 30 seconds.

Tip · Break up the meat well with the wooden spoon right from the start so you get small, evenly cooked pieces with no pink left.
  6. Add the sauce

Pour in the 2 tbsp of soy sauce and the juice of the lemon quarter. Toss for 1 min over high heat, add pepper and taste before salting: the soy sauce is already salty.

  7. Serve the stir-fry

Fluff the rice with a fork and split it between two plates. Serve the stir-fry on top right away.

And there you go, it's readyCheck off every step to celebrate.
