What's new

Popotam grows with what you tell us. Each update below landed in the app on the day shown, without asking you to do a thing.

Latest update October 9, 2026

Popotam speaks English

October 9, 2026

  • Use Popotam in English. Tap FR | EN at the top of the app or the site, and get everything in English, your dishes and recipes included. Handy for someone in your household who doesn't read French.
  • Pick your units. Grams and °C, or cups, ounces and °F. The setting is per device: in a shared meal plan, everyone keeps their own language and units.

Your produce and your calories

October 1, 2026

  • Cook what you grow. Chickens, a veggie garden? Add your produce in "Your own produce", on the home screen. It gets priority in your meals and comes off your grocery list.
  • See your dishes' calories. "≈ 520 kcal" on every card, and protein, carbs and fat in the recipe. The numbers come from ANSES's Ciqual table, never made up.
  • Follow your week day by day. At the bottom of your meal plan, tap a day in "Your week in numbers" to see its calories and macros.

Your dishes' calories, and recipes you cook step by step

September 30, 2026

  • See your dishes' calories at a glance. "≈ 520 kcal" on the cards in your meal plan, your cookbook and the discovery feed. In a recipe, tap the calorie badge to see protein, carbs and fat.
  • Follow your day and your week in numbers. Each day's total shows next to its name, and "Your week in numbers" is waiting at the bottom of the meal plan. Only lunch and dinner count: breakfast isn't in your meal plan.
  • Calculated numbers, never made up. Popotam pulls them from ANSES's Ciqual table, the reference in France, ingredient by ingredient. When a dish can't be calculated reliably enough, you see nothing rather than a wrong number.
  • Cook a recipe one step at a time. Tap "Cook step by step" in a recipe: the current step big on screen, timers within thumb's reach, and they ring even when you close the recipe.

Discover dishes, raid your fridge, flip through your cookbook

September 28, 2026

  • Scroll through dishes that match your tastes. Tap "Discover" in the middle of the bottom bar (in "My cookbook" on a computer). Your diets and excluded foods are respected, and you keep what you're craving or drop it straight into your meal plan.
  • Fridge raid: tell us what's lying around, we'll find you a dish. You type what you've got on hand and see the dishes that go with it, knowing what you're missing. The button is at the top of your meal plan (in "Plan" on a phone).
  • Flip through your cookbook in pictures. Most of your recipes now have a photo, and you can see it big with one tap. You can also add a recipe's ingredients to your groceries and see what it costs.

Meal prep: cook your whole week in one afternoon

September 24, 2026

  • Make your dishes ahead, in a single session. Start it from here, or from "Meal prep" at the top of your meal plan (in the "Plan" button on a phone). Popotam tells you which dishes keep well and which are better made the same day.
  • Arrange your week so every dish stays good. You pick your cooking day and swap dishes from one day to another. Your meal plan and grocery list follow along, and you know which container goes in the fridge and which goes in the freezer.
  • Follow your plan step by step, timers included. The equipment to get out, the veggies to chop, then every step in order. At the end, you know where to store each container and how to reheat it on the day.

Share a recipe, as a picture

September 20, 2026

  • Send a recipe as a picture, to anyone you like. The "Share" button is under every recipe. You get a square card in Popotam colors, with the dish, the time and all the ingredients.
  • Paste the written recipe under your picture. When you share, the full text lands in your clipboard, ingredients and steps. Some apps pick it up on their own.
  • Or save the picture without sharing it. The file lands in your downloads, named after the dish.

See your document full size, on a phone

September 20, 2026

  • Swipe through whole pages with your finger. The pages sit side by side instead of stacked. You see how many there are and what each one looks like, at a glance.
  • Fold the settings away to make the document bigger. The "See the document full size" button is right under the preview. The page gets two and a half times wider, enough to read what you're about to print before you hit print.

Your meal plan and groceries, on paper

September 19, 2026

  • Print your week, or keep it as a PDF. The "Print / PDF" button is at the top of your meal plan, and also at the top of your grocery list. You watch the document come together while you choose what goes in it.
  • Take the recipes and the grocery list along too. You check what you want in it, week by week. The grocery list fits on one page, in three columns.
  • Download the PDF in one click. The file is named after your meal plan and its week, so you can find it in your downloads.

Share your meal plan with the people you live with

September 18, 2026

  • Send your meal plan to your partner or your roommate. The "Share" button is at the top of the screen. You send the link by text, and whoever opens it sees the same meal plan as you.
  • Edit it each on your own, from your own phone. A dish one person changes shows up for the others. And what one person checks off at the store, the others see checked off too. It can be the two of you, or the whole household.
  • Or have them scan the QR code. Handy when you're in the same room. Everyone can remove this meal plan from their list whenever they want, without touching anyone else's.

The top bar gets some breathing room, on a phone

September 18, 2026

  • The four round buttons fit into a single menu. Tap the three lines, top right: you'll see them drop like raindrops, and this time each one has its name. Before, they were four icons with no labels.
  • You can read your meal plan's full name. The space we freed up goes to it. Right below, "My meal plans" and, as soon as you have more than one, how many.

Several meal plans on the same device

September 18, 2026

  • Keep several meal plans, and switch between them. One for home, one for the roommates, one for the week at your parents'. Each keeps its own week, groceries and preferences. Top left, you see the name of the open meal plan, and that's where you switch.
  • Give them a name. "Home", "Vacation", "Experiments": you always know where you are. The name follows the meal plan on all its devices.
  • Add a meal plan by scanning its QR code. Or paste its link. Or ask Popotam to email you all the meal plans linked to your address. And to start a blank one, it's in the same place.

Popotam opens offline, and can give you a heads-up

September 17, 2026

  • Your week and your grocery list open with no signal. On the subway, in the store's basement, in a dead zone: Popotam loads from your phone. You can check off your items, and everything syncs back up when the signal returns.
  • Popotam can let you know when your week is ready. If you asked it to handle things every week, a notification tells you it's there. You set it up in "Data", device by device, and turn it off with one tap. No other notification will ever go out.
  • On a new phone, Popotam first asks who you are. Instead of a blank form: either you start from scratch, or you paste your meal plan's link and get everything back. The link moves from one device to another by scanning the QR code on the "Data" page.
  • Switch weeks without scrolling back up. The "This week" and "Next week" buttons stay on screen while you scroll through your meal plan. You switch weeks and keep your place.
  • Put Popotam on your home screen. It then opens like an app, with its own icon. Go to "Data", then "Your access". On iPhone, it's also what lets you get notifications.

Your month fills itself in

September 16, 2026

  • Automatic generation can keep your month topped up. Every week that goes by brings a new one at the end: you keep four weeks ahead of you without asking for anything. You set it up in the Data tab, "Every week" section.
  • Before, your month melted away. Popotam only prepared next week, which was already there: three weeks later, you were back to the old routine.

Little things that matter

September 16, 2026

  • See where you're at without scrolling back up the list. Your progress stays on screen at the top while you go down the aisles. Tap it to see what you've already picked up.
  • Your monthly list gets shorter. "Canned" and "in a can" are the same jar: Popotam no longer counts them twice.
  • You'll know what's changing. A banner on the home screen announces what's new, and this page keeps it all.
  • The Data page has been reorganized. Three numbered sections: generate, your access, your files. And the numbers at the top describe the week you pick.
  • Popotam talks to you differently. Its messages show its face and expression, and they stay up long enough to be read.
  • The month button says what it does. Next to your weeks, "Plan the month" says what it does. The little "+" only made sense if you hovered over it, which doesn't exist on a phone.

Your month, all at once

September 16, 2026

  • Plan up to four weeks ahead. A single grocery run: your four weeks come together in one list, sorted by aisle.
  • Quantities are finally shown. 300 g of carrots, not just "carrots": on the meal card, in the recipe and in what you copy.
  • Your meal plan moves to your phone. A QR code to scan in the Data tab, and your meal plan follows you into the kitchen.

What you don't like, left out for good

August 31, 2026

  • Say "no olives", and it really is olive-free. Popotam checks every dish before showing it to you, and replaces the ones that don't respect your diet or your excluded foods.
  • Much finer preferences. Cuisines, cooking time, express evenings, equipment, season, pantry items to use up, and the meal slots you actually want to plan.
  • Start over, clear, reset. All three actions in one place, each named for what it does and what it keeps.

My cookbook becomes a library

August 29, 2026

  • Save a dish with the star. It stays from one week to the next, and Popotam will bring it back now and then.
  • Find it again: filters and search. Quick, budget, vegetarian, or by name.
  • Popotam can pick things up every Monday. Generating the following week turns on in one click, and can email you if you want.
