  1. Cook the pasta

Bring the water in the saucepan to a boil. Add the pasta and a pinch of salt. Cook 8 minutes over high heat, uncovered.

Tip · To keep the pasta from sticking, stir it as soon as it hits the water.
  2. Make the white sauce

In the same saucepan, melt 10 g of butter over medium heat. Add the flour and stir for 1 minute to make a roux. Pour in the milk little by little, stirring so no lumps form.

  3. Cook the sauce 5 min

Let the sauce thicken over low heat for 5 minutes, stirring regularly. Season lightly with salt and pepper.

  4. Prep the ham

In the skillet, cook the diced ham slices with the rest of the butter (5 g) over medium heat for 2 minutes.

  5. Mix the pasta and sauce

Drain the pasta and add it to the white sauce in the saucepan. Stir in half the shredded cheese and mix well.

Tip · If the sauce is too thick, loosen it up with a splash of hot pasta water.
  6. Assemble the gratin

Pour the mixture into the baking dish. Add the diced ham and stir gently. Sprinkle with the rest of the shredded cheese.

  7. Bake

Bake the dish at 180°C (thermostat 6) for 15 minutes, until the top is nicely browned.
