Step-by-step recipe

check things off as you go
  1. Preheat the oven

Turn your oven on to 200 °C, convection or top and bottom heat. Oil the baking dish with the olive oil.

  2. Peel and cut the vegetables

Peel the potatoes (400 g) and cut them into 5 mm slices. Wash the zucchini (300 g) and cut them into 1 cm rounds without peeling.

  3. Cook the potatoes

Drop the slices into a saucepan of salted water brought to a boil, then cook for 5 min once it's boiling again. They should stay a little firm.

  4. Add the zucchini

Toss the zucchini into the same water with the potatoes and cook for 3 min. Drain everything well in the colander.

Tip · Drain for a good while and let the steam escape for 1 min in the colander, otherwise the water from the zucchini makes the gratin soggy.
  5. Make the tuna mixture

Drain the 2 cans of tuna and flake it into the mixing bowl. Add the crème fraîche (100 g), milk (5 cl), nutmeg, salt and pepper, then stir.

  6. Assemble the gratin

Spread half the potatoes and zucchini in the dish, top with half the tuna mixture, then repeat with the rest. Sprinkle with the shredded cheese (75 g).

  7. Bake until golden

Bake at 200 °C until the top is nicely golden and bubbling at the edges. Let it rest for 2 min before serving.

Tip · If the top browns too fast, cover the dish with a sheet of aluminum foil or move it down a rack in the oven.
