Step-by-step recipe

check things off as you go
  1. Preheat the oven

Turn the oven on to 200 °C, convection if you have it.

  2. Peel and slice

Peel the 500 g of potatoes and cut them into 3 mm slices. Wash the 300 g of zucchini and cut them into 5 mm rounds.

  3. Precook the potatoes

Drop the potatoes into a saucepan of salted boiling water and let them simmer. Drain them well in the colander.

Tip · Take the potatoes out when a knife tip slides in easily but they still hold their shape, they'll finish cooking in the oven.
  4. Brown the turkey bacon

Cook the 150 g of diced turkey bacon in the skillet over medium heat, with no added fat, until golden. Add the zucchini and cook 3 min more.

  5. Make the sauce

In the mixing bowl, mix the 20 cl of crème fraîche with the pinch of nutmeg, salt and pepper. Add half of the 100 g of shredded cheese.

  6. Assemble the gratin

Butter the baking dish with 15 g of butter. Toss the potatoes, zucchini and turkey bacon with the sauce, tip it all into the dish, sprinkle with the rest of the cheese and dot the top with the rest of the butter.

Tip · This gratin goes well with a green salad dressed with a squeeze of lemon juice if you have one, or just plain.
  7. Bake the gratin

Bake at 200 °C until the top is nicely golden and the cream is bubbling at the edges. Let it rest for 5 min before serving.

And there you go, it's readyCheck off every step to celebrate.
