Step-by-step recipe

  1. Prep the sweet potatoes

Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into sticks 2 cm to 3 cm thick and 8 cm to 10 cm long. Put them in the saucepan or deep skillet.

  2. Cook the sweet potatoes

Cover the sweet potatoes with cold water. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil. Once it boils, cook uncovered for 15 min over medium heat.

  3. Make the breading

In the mixing bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, paprika and a pinch of salt. In the shallow bowl, beat the egg with a fork.

  4. Bread the chicken

Cut the chicken breasts into strips about 1 cm thick. Dip each piece in the beaten egg, then roll it in the breadcrumb and paprika mix to coat it well.

Tip · For a crispier coating, press lightly on the tenders after rolling them in the breadcrumbs so it sticks well.
  5. Fry the chicken tenders

In the nonstick skillet, heat the sunflower oil over medium heat. Add the breaded tenders and brown them 3 to 4 min per side until cooked through and crispy.

  6. Drain the sweet potatoes

Drain the sweet potatoes in a colander and let them sit for 2 min so the extra water steams off. Put them back in the skillet or pan over low heat to brown them a little if you like.

Tip · If the sweet potatoes are too wet after cooking, spread them on paper towels before browning them so they don't stick.
  7. Serve with ketchup

Serve the breaded chicken tenders and sweet potato fries on a plate with ketchup on the side.

And there you go, it's readyCheck off every step to celebrate.

How long does it keep?

Eat it fresh. Crunch doesn't survive the fridge: fried or breaded ahead, it comes out all soggy. Save it for the day you eat it, that's when it's good!
