Step-by-step recipe

check things off as you go
  1. Bring the water to a boil

Fill the saucepan with water, salt it and bring it to a boil over high heat.

  2. Cook the pasta

Add the 230 g of whole wheat pasta to the boiling water and cook according to the package, usually 10 to 12 min. Stir once at the start so it doesn't stick.

Tip · Taste a piece one minute before the time on the package: whole wheat pasta should stay a little firm to the bite, since it keeps soaking up the vinaigrette.
  3. Prep the veggies

While the pasta cooks, peel the red onion and slice it thin. Seed the red bell pepper and cut it into small dice.

  4. Drain the tuna and corn

Open both cans and drain the tuna (240 g) and the corn (280 g) well in the colander. Flake the tuna with a fork into the mixing bowl.

  5. Drain and cool the pasta

Drain the pasta, then run it under cold water for 30 seconds to stop the cooking. Drain it really well again.

Tip · Let the pasta drain for a good while, shaking the colander, otherwise the water stays in and waters down the vinaigrette.
  6. Make the vinaigrette

In the mixing bowl with the tuna, add 1.5 tbsp of olive oil and 1.5 tbsp of balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and pepper.

  7. Put the salad together

Add the pasta, corn, bell pepper and red onion to the mixing bowl. Toss well, taste and adjust the salt and pepper.
