  1. Boil the water

Fill the saucepan halfway with water and bring it to a boil over high heat. Add a pinch of salt once the water is boiling.

  2. Cook the pasta

Drop the pasta into the boiling water and let it cook for 8 to 10 min, following the package, stirring now and then.

  3. Drain the pasta

Drain the pasta in the colander and save a little cooking water in a bowl.

  4. Chop the onion

Peel the onion and dice it small on the cutting board.

  5. Cook the onion

Heat the oil in the nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook it for 3 min without letting it brown.

Tip · If the onion starts to stick, turn the heat down a bit and add a tablespoon of water to loosen it.
  6. Add the tomatoes

Add the crushed tomatoes to the skillet with the onion. Let it simmer for 5 min over low heat, stirring.

  7. Cut the mozzarella

Drain the mozzarella and cut it into cubes or strips with the knife.

  8. Toss it all together

Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the tomato sauce. Mix well and add a little cooking water if it looks too dry. Season lightly with salt and pepper.

Tip · Keep the pasta water warm in the bowl. You can use it to adjust the sauce if needed.
  9. Stir in the mozzarella

Add the cut mozzarella to the skillet and stir gently so it melts a little without falling apart completely.
