Step-by-step recipe

  1. Rinse the rice

Put the 250 g of basmati rice in a colander and rinse it under cold water until the water runs almost clear. Drain well.

  2. Cook the rice

Bring about 500 ml of salted water to a boil in the saucepan, add the rice, cover and cook over very low heat. Then turn off the heat and let it steam, still covered.

Tip · Don't lift the lid while it cooks, the steam finishes cooking the rice and the grains stay separate.
  3. Chop the onion

Peel the onion and dice it small. Crack the 4 eggs into the mixing bowl, season with salt and pepper and beat them with a fork.

  4. Cook the onion

Heat half the canola oil in the skillet over medium heat and cook the onion, stirring, until soft and golden. Add the 200 g of frozen peas and cook 4 to 5 minutes. Push everything to the side or tip it onto a plate.

  5. Scramble the eggs

Add the other half of the oil to the skillet over medium heat, pour in the beaten eggs and stir gently until fully set, with nothing runny left. Break them into pieces with the spatula.

Tip · Take the eggs off the heat as soon as they're set but still look soft, they'll finish cooking with the hot rice.
  6. Fry the rice

Fluff the rice with a fork, add it to the skillet with the peas and onion, then stir-fry over high heat. Adjust the salt and pepper and serve right away.

And there you go, it's readyCheck off every step to celebrate.
