  1. Prep the garlic and tomatoes

Peel and thinly slice the 2 garlic cloves. Cut the 200 g of cherry tomatoes in half.

  2. Cook the red lentils

Bring a large saucepan of salted water to a boil. Add the 100 g of red lentils and simmer them 10 min, then drain them and set them aside.

Tip · Keep an eye on the red lentils, they go from tender to mush fast. Drain them as soon as they're soft but still whole.
  3. Cook the whole wheat pasta

Bring more salted water to a boil in the same saucepan. Cook the 200 g of whole wheat pasta for the time on the package, about 10 min, then drain it, saving a small glass of pasta water.

  4. Sauté the garlic

While the pasta cooks, heat the 2 tbsp of olive oil in the skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook it 30 seconds without letting it color.

Tip · Turn down the heat if the garlic sizzles too hard, since it turns bitter as soon as it browns.
  5. Cook the cherry tomatoes

Add the tomatoes to the skillet with the oregano, salt and pepper. Let them cook over medium heat 5 min, until they slump.

  6. Put it together and serve

Tip the pasta and lentils into the skillet, add a little pasta water and toss 2 min over low heat. Taste, adjust the seasoning and serve right away.
