Step-by-step recipe

  1. Preheat the oven

Turn the oven on to 200 °C (thermostat 6 to 7). Set the baking sheet in the middle so everything cooks evenly.

  2. Cut the fries

Peel the potatoes and cut them into even sticks. Rinse them in cold water to remove the starch, then dry them well with a dish towel.

  3. Season the fries

In a bowl, toss the fries with 1 tbsp of sunflower oil and a pinch of salt. Spread them on the baking sheet in a single layer, without piling them up.

Tip · For really crispy fries, don't crowd them on the sheet, and flip them well halfway through.
  4. Bake the fries

Put the fries in the oven and bake for 30 minutes, flipping them halfway so they brown evenly.

  5. Prep the chicken

Slice the chicken breasts in half horizontally to get two thin cutlets. Lightly salt each side.

  6. Bread the chicken

In a bowl, beat the egg with a pinch of salt. In another bowl, mix the flour, breadcrumbs and paprika. Dip each cutlet in the egg, then in the breading, pressing so it sticks well.

Tip · Press the breading on firmly so it sticks to the meat, or it will fall off while cooking.
  7. Cook the chicken

Heat 1 tbsp of sunflower oil in the nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the cutlets and cook 4 to 5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through.

  8. Build the burgers

Lightly toast the burger buns in the skillet or oven for 2 minutes. Spread mayonnaise on each half, add the lettuce, then the breaded cutlet. Close the burgers.

And there you go, it's readyCheck off every step to celebrate.

Eat it fresh. Crunch doesn't survive the fridge: fried or breaded ahead, it comes out all soggy. Save it for the day you eat it, that's when it's good!
